Carole Presberg of the New England Border Collie Rescue Organization wrote this wonderful observation, and I just had to share it here:

“I hear so many people say they just lost a dog and they don’t want another because they can’t go through that again. How much they are missing of life if only death is what counts in their memories.”
My response: Carole, Your last sentence: “How much they are missing of life if only death is what counts in their memories” is “dead on,” if you’ll pardon the pun. Our animals deserve our grief after they die, to be sure, but they deserve our gratitude and celebration of their presence in our lives even more!

Thanks much,
Sid
